Last year Roger Daltrey and his band hit the road for a live production of The Who's Tommy. The iconic front man was joined by conductor Keith Leveson and The Budapest Scoring Orchestra to play a new arrangement of the record by composer David Campbell. At the site of the original Woodstock in upstate New York, they rolled tape on what turned out to be another landmark recording.
Tommy Orchestral will be released on CD, two vinyl LP and on digital and streaming platforms via Polydor on July 14th. This coincides with the original record’s 50th anniversary. In this piece from loudersound.com Daltrey says:
