Texas Businessman Places One Of The Largest Bets Ever On World Series

As the 2019 Major League Baseball Playoffs got underway tonight, one Texas businessman is watching with a greater intensity than probably any other fan. Meet Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale,he owns a Furniture store in Houston and put down $3.5 million on the Astros to win the World Series at the DraftKings sportsbook at Scarlet Pearl casino in Biloxi, Mississippi. The odds at the time were +220, meaning if the bet pays off, Mattress Mack would net $7.7 million.

In this article posted to espn.com , Draftkings CRO and co-founder Matt Kalish says:

"I think it's the biggest [bet] that's ever happened in Mississippi,"

Experts around the country are saying it's also easily one of the largest wagers ever reported in the United States -- and McIngvale is still placing more bets. Apparently he dropped $200,000 on the Astros at +250 at the South Point in Las Vegas. There has also been inquires to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement to accept a bet of greater than $5 million on his favorite team. Wow. Go big or go ...broke I guess. Good luck Mattress Mack!
