The Band's "The Last Waltz" Premiered on 11/4/77

November 4, 1977, Martin Scorsese's Rock-Doc Masterpiece had its premiere in New York City. It was filmed the previous Thanksgiving in San Francisco at Bill Graham's Winterland Ballroom where The Band had made their debut in 1969. It was envisioned as a send off/final live performance for the group. Prior to The Band taking the stage, the 5,000 audience members were treated to a full, Turkey Feast and there was even Ballroom dancing with an Orchestra. Talk about a send off.

When word got out, it seemed a who's who of some of the biggest names in music turned out to perform and take in the Band's swansong concert. Among the guest artists were Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Ringo Starr, Ronnie Wood and more!
