As the Boston Red Sox stumble into the 2021 season with 3 losses and just a few thousand fans allowed in Fenway Park, the Texas Rangers played in front of a full house of 40,000 for their home opener today.
The Rangers are the only team in all 4 pro sports to allow full capacity, and Globe Life Field in Arlington was packed Monday afternoon. It looks strange after a year of watching baseball games on TV with cardboard cutouts in the stands during the quarantine. Rangers staff were doing their best to try to enforce the mandatory mask rule inside the ballpark. While most people were wearing them, a lot of others weren't and you just know there were "tense" conversations. They were also encouraging social distancing, but how do you do that at a sold out game?
Take a look at the video. Would you feel comfortable going to a sold out game? And since tailgating in the ballpark parking lots was prohibited, look at the fans who paid $60 a spot in private lots to party.
