I remember this day clearly. WZLX had recently moved out of the Pru and into our new digs on Leo Birmingham Parkway in Brighton. There was a new energy in the building for us, but some tragic news to go along with it. Brad Delp, one of our local Rock Star brothers, friend to the station and legendary front man from the band Boston, left this mortal coil on March 9, 2007. His death by suicide at age 55 left his bandmates, family, friends and fans in a state of shock and disbelief. Sadly, this kind, sweet, extremely gracious man was no longer with us. I never saw him turn down an autograph or refuse a photograph when he ever he came by our studios or would play one of our Listener Events. The following day the band's website featured a black background with the simple message that spoke volumes: "We've just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll."
Brad's legacy will always live on through our memories of him and of his multi-platinum body of work. Take a moment below to remember the immense, once-in-a-generation talent we had the pleasure of listening to for over four decades. R.I.P. Brad
