BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Plenty of popular Red Sox alums have made appearances early in spring camp--Pedro Martinez, Jason Varitek, and Derek Lowe to name a few.
Add to that list, for the last couple days, 2007 World Series MVP Mike Lowell.
He'd checked out tape of 21-year-old phenom Rafael Devers fielding grounders at third base, then headed to Fort Myers to work with the youngster.
Devers made 14 errors in 56 games last year at third--not so good--but Lowell said he doesn't need anything fixed, he just needs more reps. His physical skills are very far along.

Lowell believes Devers could be in Boston for years to come.
"Being 20, thrust into Fenway Park and every part of your game is kinda dissected, is a big adjustment," he said. "Jokingly, I said, you just keep hitting home runs and people won't, but, he has a chance to have such a well-rounded game, I mean, he's a guy who could wear this uniform ten-plus years and be a big factor."
"I've enjoyed working with him so far, and he's been very receptive," Lowell added.
Devers was promoted to the majors in late-July and homered 10 times, drove in 30, and batted .284 in 58 games. He also went deep twice in the playoffs against the Astros.
First exhibition contests for the Sox today against Northeastern and Boston College.
