BOURNE (WBZ-AM) -- After a rainy, cool spring, travelers headed to the cape for Memorial Day Weekend were ready to soak up the sun and warm temperatures.

If you're heading to the beach this weekend, today or Saturday may be your best bet--as it's supposed to rain on Sunday and Monday.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Kim Tunnicliffe headed to the beach to talk to some of the people getting R&R on the Cape Friday.

Eily just moved to the Cape, and said it was her first time on Monument Beach in Bourne.

"We like it so far," she said. "I was walking on the beach in Hyannis where I work yesterday an it was still a little cold. Now it's warm and I'm excited--I can't wait to get a tan!"

Holly Essler from Wareham plans to sunbathe and go fishing this weekend--but said she's not forgetting the true meaning of Memorial Day.

"Every time you pass by flags, it gives you a second to think about ... it's not just a holiday weekend, but it's nice to remember what you're celebrating, why you have the extra day off," she said.
