State Trooper Hit By Car During Traffic Stop On Route 3 In Billerica

BILLERICA, MA (WBZ-AM) – A Massachusetts State Trooper is rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a passing vehicle on Route 3 in Billerica.

According to State Police, the Trooper was outside of his cruiser on a traffic stop, when he was hit.

It happened on Route 3, southbound at Exit 29 on the Billerica Chelmsford town line  

According to state police, the driver that hit him stopped.

The trooper, who is assigned to the Concord Barracks, was transported to Lahey hospital in Burlington with serious injuries but in stable condition according to State Police. He is a 33 veteran of the force.

An investigation is underway with the State Police Crash reconstruction and crime scene units at the crash site.
