Two Former Fessenden Students File Sexual Abuse Lawsuit

NEWTON (24/7 NewsSource/WBZ-AM) -- Two former boarding school students at the Fessenden School in Newton are filing a sexual abuse lawsuit.

The students say employees drugged them in the 1960s and 70s, and accuse the school of ignoring the allegations.

Former assistant headmaster Arthur Clarridge is the center of the allegations. The suit claims Clarridge drugged and raped John Sweeney in his dorm when he was eleven years old. Clarridge died last month at age 90 after denying accusations in 2016.

William Greaves says he was sexually abused by the school psychologist, dorm master, and art teacher at the age of eight.

Sixteen previous claims have been settled at the Fessenden School between 1963 and 1997.
