Authorities: Bones Discovered Behind Shed In Wakefield

WAKEFIELD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) —The Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office and Wakefield Police Department are investigating after a landscaper found a set of human bones while working at a home on Lakeshore Drive Monday.

According to Middlesex DA Marian Ryan, the landscaper was working behind a shed when they located what “appeared to be human bones, shoes and clothing under brush.”

Investigators did not release the identity or the cause of death but suggests the remains had been outside for an extended period of time.

"We appreciate the patience and assistance of members of the public today as this investigation is conducted," said Steven Skory, Wakefield Police Chief.

"At this time, we do not believe there is any danger to the community."

Massachusetts State Police, Wakefield Police, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are investigating.
