There are plenty of doorbell camera videos of package thieves and home invaders out there, but this latest doorbell video is something very different.
Rick Guerino told News 12 New Jersey that he was on his lunch break when he received a motion alert from his Ring video doorbell. The alert was triggered by a FedEx driver who was carefully picking up and folding an American Flag that had fallen on the ground, as a result of strong winds. The driver then placed the folded flag in Guerino’s door for safe keeping.
"I didn't know what he was doing at first when he was waving it out and everything," Guerino told News 12. "I was like, 'What are you doing?' I see him bend down and pick up the flag. I didn't even realize my flag pole was even down."
Guerino told the news station that he would like to meet the driver to say “thanks.”
"He really respected the flag and you don't see that too often," he said.
A FedEx representative said the company is still trying to identify the driver.
"FedEx Ground is proud of the many contributions our team members make to our communities every day," the FedEx spokesperson said in a statement to News 12. "We commend the actions of this service provider employee who went above and beyond by carefully and respectfully securing the flag on the homeowner's behalf."
