Linkin Park Opens Up About Significance Of Fan-Favorite Demo 'Pictureboard'

Linkin Park has been in a months-long celebration of its debut album, Hybrid Theory, and has gifted fans an array of incredible things leading up to the 20th anniversary.

In a recent conversation with Matt Pinfield, Mike Shinoda, Joe Hahn, Brad Delson, and Dave Farrell opened up about memories behind the album, recording the multi-platinum selling record, and hearing Chester Bennington sing for the first time.

As many fans know, Linkin Park is gearing up to release the Hybrid Theory 20th Anniversary Edition Super Deluxe Box Set on October 9. The box set contains many amazing items including a dozen previously-unreleased demo tracks from the band, one being the fan-favorite demo, “Pictureboard.”

If you happen to be unfamiliar with the song, we don't blame you as it's only been played live once but it's the first song the late Chester Bennington sang for the guys that got him into the band. Linkin Park was still called Xero at the time of recording the demo and on the hunt for a lead singer and thankfully, the demo fell into the right hands.

“I think 'Pictureboard' was the first thing I heard Chester’s voice on,” Delson said in the interview. “I remember getting that, and being like, ‘Hey, what do you think of this guy? He just sent us this recording…’ and being like, not crying with joy, but like, almost crying, just like, Wow… It just blew my hat off my head, and we’re like, ‘We gotta meet this guy!”
