22nd Annual Roxbury Film Festival Kicks Off Virtually

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Organizers of the annual Roxbury Film Festival believe it's now more important than ever to celebrate the lives of underrepresented people, locally and around the world.

Roxbury's film festival Director Lisa Simmons told WBZ NewsRadio that this is the time for those kinds of stories and filmmakers to be championed.

"We're bringing forth these stories that are impactful, that are educational, that tell incredible stories that we've never heard before," Simmons said. "[They] really bring voice to ... stories of people and places that we've often never heard about."

The Roxbury International Film Festival is going virtual for its 22nd year. The public can go to the festival's website for film passes, tickets to panel discussions, and Q&A sessions with this year's filmmakers.
