SPENCER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Spencer man was arrested over the weekend on a warrant for animal cruelty.
Spencer Police said Leonardo Pagan Marrero, 48, left a Siberian husky outside his Pleasant Street home in below-freezing temperatures. He was arrested for animal cruelty, and was released after posting $2,000 cash bail.

Police found the dog outside the Pleasant Street home around 1:38 a.m. on December 12, when they responded to a report that it was barking.
"The animal was tangled in the cable and clearly in distress, having no access to shelter, food or water," Spencer Police said in a Facebook post.
A neighbor told officers the dog's owner was "away." The dog was taken to Spencer Kennel, then put up for adoption through the Siberian Husky Rescue League, as the authorities believed it had been abandoned.
"We were later advised after a veterinary examination, that the dog was underweight and tested positive for Lyme, Anaplasma and Hookworms," police wrote.
On Friday, 42 days after the dog was rescued, a third party called inquiring about the dog being missing. That person told police Marrero had returned to the area.
Marrero was arrested at his home shortly after midnight Saturday.
