PHOTOS: Hidden Gardens Of Beacon Hill

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Hundreds took advantage of the good weather Thursday to smell the roses—ones that most people don't get to see.

The Beacon Hill Garden Club hosted its 91st annual Hidden Gardens tour, giving people a closer look at gardens which can't be admired from the street.

Club member Sandra Gilpatrick told WBZ NewsRadio's James Rojas their mission is to educate people on horticulture and beautify the area. Different members show their gardens each year.

"You walk around the city and you see so much brick, and you don't realize how much green there is hidden from the public," Gilpatrick said. "This is our treat, to be able to show our neighbors and visitors how beautiful Beacon Hill is."

Proceeds from the tour go to dozens of charities supported by the club.
