BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massport officials confirm that two planes from China landed at Boston's Logan Airport Sunday afternoon, hours before a flight ban on all arrivals from China took effect at 5 p.m.
This comes two days after the Trump Administration declared the novel coronavirus a public health emergency, implementing near-total flight bans on planes from China. Seven airports across the country will do enhanced screening for the virus, according to the Washington Post.
Both planes are Hainan Airlines flights; one from Shanghai was landed around 1:30 p.m. the other flight from Beijing landed around 1:45 p.m.
Passengers on those flights were screened before getting on their flight, once in the air, and just before landing.
The seven airports meant to take in all flights from China are John F. Kennedy International, Chicago O'Hare International, San Francisco International, Los Angeles International, Daniel K. Inouye International in Honolulu, Seattle-Tacoma International, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International.
