Dramatic Arrest At Revere Quality Inn

REVERE Mass (WBZ NewsRadio) — A tense stand-off involving SWAT teams at the Quality Inn on Route 1 in Revere is over.

Massachusetts State Police tell WBZ NewsRadio that a suspect, Anthony Bova, 47, has surrendered to police Thursday afternoon.

“He’s facing serious assault charges possibly up to and including assault with intent to murder,” said state police spokesman Dave Procopio.

This all stemmed from a domestic assault earlier in the day in Chelsea.

At about 10 a.m. Chelsea police responded to a report of a woman who was assaulted in their city.

Police say that Bova used a hammer to break into the victim’s home and then he tried to strangle her.

The victim will be okay and authorities tracked Bova to the Quality Inn on Route 1 in Revere where they found his car was parked in the parking lot and learned that was checked in as a guest of the hotel.

Massachusetts State Police along with SWAT and local police units moved in.

Residents of the hotel were told to evacuate as police were not sure whether Bova was armed.

Bova remained in his room and they did not break into his room.

After a couple hours and heavy police presence, the suspect who has a lengthy criminal record surrendered peacefully.

No word on exactly what charges Bova might be facing or when he be in court for an arraignment.
