Mass. State Police Deploy Extra Patrols Ahead Of Thanksgiving

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Massachusetts State Police said its Division of Field Services will be deploying additional patrols across the state Wednesday night, in anticipation of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

MSP said the extra patrols are necessary since the holiday could present "opportunities for alcohol consumption and increased traffic volume."

Additionally, MSP will deploy sobriety checkpoints tonight in Troop A (northeastern Massachusetts) and Troop C (central Massachusetts.) Patrols will also be deployed Friday and Saturday evenings as well.

"The Massachusetts State Police urge all motorists to make responsible decisions over the holiday weekend by designating sober drivers, wearing seatbelts and following all other traffic laws," MSP said. "These patrols are focusing primarily on impaired drivers, distracted drivers, and other traffic violations."
