BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts has hit a new record when it comes to it's distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine.
The latest daily report from the Department of Public Health shows that nearly 113,000 doses were administered on Friday -- marking the first time the state has vaccinated over 100,000 people in a single 24-hour period.
The previous record was over 97,000 doses administered on April 3.
As of that report, the number of fully vaccinated people in Massachusetts is now at 1,676,961. The term "fully vaccinated" represents people who have either gotten two doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, or people who have gotten the single-shot dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
According to Gov. Charlie Baker, the state continues to lead in the nation in vaccination rates for states with over 5 million residents. Friday's report shows that 83.4 percent of the vaccine doses that have been shipped to Massachusetts have been administered so far.
