BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for most of Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon. The watch stretched more than 350 miles from Upstate New York to the Atlantic Ocean, including all of Massachusetts besides Cape Cod and the Islands.
The National Weather Service warned that the largest threats with the storms were 70-mile-per-hour winds, quarter-sized hail and frequent lightning. There were around 37 million people in the watch area.
The watch was put in place at around 2:30 PM and will stay up until 11:00 PM.
