NEWTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A miniscule house in Newton commanded a sizable price this week. The 251-square-foot cottage at 1295 Boylston Street in Newton was once listed for $450,000, but sold for "only" $315,000 on Monday. The sale price still beat the assessor's current price by about $31,000.

The tiny house is listed as a one-bedroom on Zillow, though photos show the bedroom is a more like a loft with a ladder. The home was built in 1970 according to the city's assessor's office, and it sits on about 0.6 acres of land. According to the listing, the kitchen was renovated this year with granite countertops and the house comes with three parking spaces.

A legal notice from the town shows the owner needed to petition the city to use the house to a residential dwelling this summer, as it lies within a business zone.
