Farm Aid is coming to Connecticut for the first time in its 33-year history on September 22 at Hartford's Xfinity Theatre. This marks the second Farm Aid appearance in New England since 2008 at the then-named Comcast Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts.
This year's lineup will feature the event's staple artists Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Willie Nelson, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds along with Kacey Musgraves, Margo Price, Chris Stapleton, Sturgill Simpson, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, and Particle Kid. Additional artists to be announced.
Led by founders Neil Young, Willie Nelson, and John Mellencamp, the first Farm Aid was held on September 22, 1985 at the University of Illinois in Champaign with the goal of offering national attention and financial support to struggling family farms. The inaugural event brought out more than 80,000 people and raised over $9 million for the cause. After some on and off years, Farm Aid has taken place consistently since 1992 and raised over $53 million.
