The German-based supermarket company Aldi is putting some rock and roll on store shelves starting this February. Classic Rock has inspired craft brews and wines before, but cheese? Yup. Aldi unveiled a line of chesses inspired by some well-known 80's acts including Guns n' Roses and Def Leppard.
How does "Sweet Cheddar of Mine" or "Pour Some Gouda on Me" taste on a Ritz? Probably pretty good when paired with AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" Cabernet Sauvignon or a mug of Motorhead's "Bastard Lager."
ALDI has four other products available, although these are, uh, a bit cheesier: "Girls Just Wanna Have Fontina" - inspired by Cindy Lauper, the Michael Jackson-themed "Billie Goat Is My Lover," Bonnie Tyler and "Total Eclipse of the Havarti," and "Wake Me Up Before You Goat-Goat" channeling George Michael and Wham! The product labels use images of the bands with their permission (and an obvious sense of humor) with cows and goats representing the artists.
And you thought 80's power-ballads were cheesy!
