Record Store Day On April 13 Features Exciting Exclusive Releases!

Record Store Day will be held in shops all across the world on April 13.With the rise of downloading and an alarming number of record-store closings, owners and employees at vinyl emporiums conceived of the idea and held the first ‘holiday’ in 2007.With the revival of vinyl in subsequent years, this has become a much-beloved day as artists and labels ready special Record Store Day releases that aficionados can grab at their favorite plastic waffle headquarters.Just check with the store to make sure they are participating.

Here is a small sample of the huge list of 400 option being offered for sale this April 13th!

FOO FIGHTERS-the band is pressing 5,000 collectible 3” vinyl version of its 1996 single “Big Me.”

DAVID BOWIE/MARLENE DIETRICH-“Revolutionary Song”/”Just a Gigolo”Bowie acted in the West German movie “Just a Gigolo,” a story about a Prussian officer who works as a gigolo in a brothel run by the Baroness (Marlene Dietrich) after World War 1.Bowie contributed "Revolutionary Song" to the movie, played by a band called The Rebels. The 7-inch single’s B-side is the film’s 1928 title song performed by Marlene Dietrich. It was her last movie and final song she recorded during her lifetime.This single is on transparent blue vinyl as a limited edition of 8.000 individually numbered copies.

QUEEN -“Bohemian Rhapsody” movie soundtrack on picture disc plus a harder to find 7” single of the song “Bohemian Rhapsody” backed with its original B-side “I’m in Love with My Car.”The single is on colored vinyl and there’s only going to be 2500 copies out there.

GREEN DAY – 6800 copies of “Woodstock 1994” will be on store shelves to revive memories of the band’s mudfest onstage in Upstate.

ELTON JOHN – “Live From Moscow” spotlights the singer’s visit to the USSR on May 28, 1979.Released for the first time on any format this historic concert is issued on a 2-Lp set.

PEARL JAM – A first-time vinyl release of “LIVE AT EASY STREET RECORDS” recorded at the Seattle store in 2005.The original was released on CD to indie stores 14 years ago and quickly went out of print.This one will go too; there’s only going to be 6,000 copies.

ACE FREHLEY – The ex-guitarist for Kiss releases 2100 copies of his “Spaceman” solo album on picture disc.

ROLLING STONES – The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World will revisit one of the most iconic record jackets ever – the octagonal “Through the Past Darkly.”This1969 greatest hits album marked the first time the “Honky Tonk Women” single got on an album.7000 copies on orange vinyl

PINK FLOYD – The band will re-release its second album “A Saucerful of Secrets” in mono.This follows last year’s re-release of the first album “Piper at the Gates of Dawn.”

ROXY MUSIC – The legendary English band enters the Rock and Rol Hall of Fame on March 29; two weeks later on record Store Day they release a double-Lp set of remixes of tracks from its 1972 debut album.

U2 – In the band’s ninth release for Record Store Day since 2010, the members are putting out “The Europa EP.”The three track 12” record includes cover art that is a tribute to Charlie Chaplin.Side A features Chaplin’s speech from the movie “The Great Dictator,” mixed with "Love Is All We Have Left" from 2017's “Songs of Experience” and 1993‘s "Zooropa."This track segues into a 2018 live version of "New Year’s Day" recorded in Dublin last November.The flip side contains two remixes: the “St.Francis Hotel” version of "New Year's Day" and Jon Please Wimmin's "Love Is All We Have Left."
