Carter Alan here. I got to talk with Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters this past week! He’s ALWAYS busy, and this past year of the pandemic has been no exception. He has a new documentary out available through Amazon Prime called What Drives Us which examines the motivations of bands and artists who launch into a career of uncertainty to create music. Dave interviews folks like Brian Johnson of AC/DC, The Edge from U2, St. Vincent, Ringo Starr, Steven Tyler and many more. Historical footage and backstage home movies tie it all together. It’s an hour and a half and it is a must for any rock and roll fan!
Dave also directed a new television series called From Cradle To Stage on Paramount+, with episodes dropping weekly. It’s an unscripted series inspired by Grohl’s mother, Virginia Hanlon Grohl and her critically acclaimed book, From Cradle to Stage: Stories from the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars. Each episode features a famous performer and their mother, alongside Dave and Virginia, including Geddy Lee of Rush and his mom Mary and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and his mother Mary.
