By the time Van Halen was ready to record their third studio album, they were a well oiled rock and roll machine! The instrumental tracks were recorded in four days, the vocals in six, the whole album done in eight.
Hitting you over the head with the sledgehammer opener, "And The Cradle Will Rock", they kept their foot on the gas with, "Everybody Wants Some" and "Romeo's Delight", showing everyone that they were taking the eighties head on.
As David Lee Roth said in an interview with Hit Parader, "I don’t think we’ll ever be confused with Fleetwood Mac or Steely Dan, who spend jillions of dollars and years in the studio just to make one record. How boring can you get, man? I like to think that all we’re really trying to do is capture some of our youthful enthusiasm."
They were great live, but sucked at lip syncing on German TV, please enjoy!
