They’re In A Hurry To Melt Snow On The Fenway Park Field


The World Champion Boston Red Sox have their 2019 Home Opener against The Toronto Blue Jays one month from today, April 9th. The Fenway Park field is more ready for building a snowman than playing baseball. Head groundskeeper David Mellor has his crew working to get that snow off the field and get some sun hitting that beautiful grass.

In an Instagram video, he shows them utilizing the Albedo Effect. Sun science! They’re spreading a mixture of 4.5 tons of green sand and 1 ton of black sand on the snow pack. The dark colored sand absorbs the heat of the sun speeding up the melting process. Check out the video...
