In April of 1992, Pearl Jam were taking off. There was a strong buzz around the album "Ten" and with successful European and U.S club tours, Pearl Jam was at the top of their game. They came to Saturday Night Live ready to show America what the buzz was all about. Sharon Stone was hosting that night, riding the success of the movie "Basic Instinct."
After the skit, "Pat," Sharon Stone introduces them with, "Ladies and gentlemen, Pearl Jam." They rip into their first single from the album Ten, "Alive." All Hell breaks loose after the first two verses with the band thrashing on stage, Ed wild eyed with arms shaking, flinging the mic stand around. It's an incredible performance that captures the energy of early 90's Pearl Jam.
Enjoy the opening of the show with the band gaping at Sharon Stone, "Basic Instinct" style, and then their awesome performance that Facebook won't let me repost, but if you click on "Watch on Facebook", you can see it.
