Metallica Rock The National Anthem At The SF Giants Game

Via While the World Champion Boston Red Sox are sputtering out of the season starting gate, The San Francisco Giants paid tribute to their Bay Area Metal Overlords. The 7th annual "Metallica" night was this weekend at Oracle Park. James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett hammered the National Anthem on custom made SF Giants guitars, drummer Lars Ulrich threw out the first pitch, and the band had the run of the place, hey, it was their night! Kirk even did a, "Smoke On The Water/ Take Me Out To The Ballgame" mashup for the 7th inning stretch.

To further rub salt in Sox fans' wounds, the Giants lost 7-3 to the New York Yankees. Of course, the Yankees have their own connection to Metallica, with retired pitcher Mariano Rivera entering games to the intimidating strains of “Enter Sandman” throughout his Hall of Fame career.
