Guardians Pitchers Indicted In Connection With Betting

Cleveland Guardians pitchers Luis Ortiz and Emmanuel Clase have been indicted on charges related to a sports betting investigation.

The two are suspected of participating in a scheme to deliberately throw pitches during games to allow bettors to wager.

Prosecutors say the scheme began as early as May 2023.

Ortiz has been arrested, but Clase is not currently in custody.

Both players were placed on leave by Major League Baseball this past summer as part of the investigation.
