Slipknot percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan, 56, revealed in a new interview with producer Rick Rubin on the "Tetragrammaton" podcast that he will need heart surgery after doctors discovered an irregular heartbeat following the band's most recent tour.
When he first sought care, nurses had trouble getting an EKG reading and initially feared he was having a heart attack. Crahan said doctors also considered a pacemaker, which sent him into a panic over whether he would be able to keep performing.
His doctor told him that once treated, he would actually feel better than ever.
Despite the health scare, Crahan said Slipknot ultimately "keeps me alive" and that he cannot imagine stepping away.
