The last time fans got a solo, studio record from Ann Wilson it was her first, solo, studio record. In 2007 she released a collaborative effort entitled Hope & Glory. It also included the talents of Elton John, k.d. lang, Alison Krauss ,Shawn Colvin, covering songs from some of her favorite artists. A true labor of love. Eleven years later she has returned with another concept album of sorts. Ultimate Classic Rock is reporting the forthcoming Songs for the Living, Vol. 1 will see the light of day this Summer.
In the article, Ann describes it as "....a project very dear to me -- a collection of songs by artists who have departed in the last several years, including Leonard Cohen, David Bowie, Tom Petty, Chris Cornell and Amy Winehouse to name a few," Wilson also said in a press release. "I feel these souls have made a real, lasting contribution to the art of the popular song and to honor them is my deepest pleasure." She has teamed up with fellow Rock Legends, Paul Rodgers and Jeff Beck for a Tour this year dubbed "The Stars Align". They will visit Boston's Blue Hills Bank Pavilion on August 3rd.
Here she is in action for Warren Haynes' 29th Annual Christmas Jam last December.
