Flashback Friday 3/23/79: Van Halen II is Released

Less than a year after their ground-breaking debut, and a rigorous road schedule, Van Halen went right back in to the studio and completed their follow-up in just 3 weeks. Most of the tracks had been in their arsenal going back to their club and demo days before they were even signed. Van Halen II was released on March 23, 1979 to huge acclaim and saw the Band cruise up the charts thanks to singles like "Dance The Night Away" , "Beautiful Girls" and "Somebody Get Me a Doctor"(released as a single in Japan). The album would go on to reach #6 on the U.S. Billboard Charts and sell over 6 million copies to date. Below is an early promo video from that era.
