via UCR: Southern Rock disciples may need to order Airline tickets along with their concert tickets. Lynyrd Skynyrd released a statement saying the final Tour Date of the "Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour" will be Sept. 2nd at EverBank Field in their hometown of Jacksonville, Florida.
The iconic band has been at it for 49 years and despite tragedy and numerous lineup changes, had a rebirth of sorts in the 80's and has been recording and touring relentlessly ever since.
Frontman Johnny Van Zant: "This is a dream come true for the Lynyrd Skynyrd band. We're going to rock the house here. ... My brother and Gary [Rossington] and Allen Collins started this band a long time ago. We are on our farewell tour. It’s time to wrap it up. To be able to play Jacksonville, here, with the Jags, come on. It doesn’t get any better than that.”
Kid Rock and Country artist, Jason Aldean are slated to open what is sure to be an historic night. Tickets go on sale for the Final Show on April 30 at 10AM, with various pre-sales beginning April 24 at 10AM. Skynyrd's tour begins on May 4 in West Palm Beach, Fla, and hits Xfinity Center in Mansfield, MA. July 20th. (those tickets are on sale now.
