Via UPROXX The creators, cast and fans of Gunsmoke will be saying "DOH!" after this Sunday's episode of The Simpsons airs on Fox. The classic, yet unconventional, American T.V. Family releases episode 636 with “Forgive and Regret” (the plot synopsis: “Grampa makes a confession to Homer while on his deathbed”. It was already the longest-running prime-time animated series beating ou The Flintstones. But soon it will hold record for longest-running American scripted primetime series ever. Nine years ago the comedy took the title for most seasons in T.V. history from Gunsmoke, but it took until this Sunday for The Simpsons to beat the western’s total number of episodes. Congratulations to creator Matt Groening, the entire, extremely talented cast and animators who have been there since its debut on December 17, 1989. Its 29th season began on October 1, 2017
