5/24/69: The Beatles "Get Back" to #1

Within weeks of its debut as a single on the U.S. charts,"Get Back" hit #1 for the first of five weeks and became the band's 17th #1 song in Billboard. The feat matched The King, Elvis Presley's previous record of 17 number ones. According to the Beatles Anthology (P. 319: San Francisco: Chronicle Books)  Paul McCartney said: "We were sitting in the studio and we made it up out of thin air ... we started to write words there and then ... when we finished it, we recorded it at Apple Studios and made it into a song to roller-coast by."

Other cool footnotes on this track is that It was the Beatles' only single that credited another artist at their request. Billy Preston played electric piano. "Get Back" was also the band's first single released in a Stereo mix in the U.S.
