As he enters his 56th year as a professional in the biz, Eric Clapton has scaled back his touring schedule tremendously as health issues have come up in recent years. There are still two dates on the books for Madison Square Garden, NYC October 6th and 7th. However, he has remained active in the recording studio. October 12th will see the release of Clapton's first album of Christmas music aptly-titled, Happy Xmas, on the Bushbranch Records/Surfdog Records label.
The 14 tracks are made up of holiday standards like "White Christmas,” “Silent Night,” and "Away in a Manger" but he's also managed to work in some deeper tunes from the winter catalog and even an original tune called "“For Love On Christmas Day.”
This 24th studio album will mark his first release since 2016's I Still Do. E.C. says: " I had in my head that these holiday songs could be done with a slight blues tinge, and I started to figure out how to play the blues lines in between the vocals,”
