Would You Buy Steaks from a Vending Machine?

via adage.com     Allow me to introduce you to the Applestone Meat Company. Four years ago founder Joshua Applestone saw a demand for 24/7 access to prime cuts of steak in the Town of Stone Ridge, in Ulster County, N.Y., There has been such demand, that he has added more machines and has to keep refilling them to supply the masses. Makes sense really. A lot of of the workforce has different hours and can't get to the their local Butcher or grocery store before closing. So, Applestone provides high quality proteins for sale in their $30,000, high-tech, vending machines. The current machines carry an about 150 items; the new ones, will hold as many as 1,000. In the article  Applestone says:

"The next version will make it a smoother, more intuitive process. This is going to be like getting your first iPhone." Although they are currently only in Stone Ridge and Hudson New York, plans are underway to set up shop in Manhattan and eventually in every major city.
