via UPI The city of Malmö, Sweden will have a new tourist attraction opening its doors on October 29th. I give you the Disgusting Food Museum. According to the official website,
"The evolutionary function of disgust is to help us avoid disease and unsafe food. Disgust is one of the six fundamental human emotions. While the emotion is universal, the foods that we find disgusting are not. What is delicious to one person can be revolting to another"
So, what constitutes a "disgusting" food these days? Glad you asked, the exhibits range from fermented shark meat, bull penis, to bird's nest soup, ant larvae, roasted guinea pig and maggot cheese. The Founder Sam West also founded Sweden's Museum of Failure. He said they have foods representing a variety of world cultures, so visitors might be surprised to find some foods they consider normal back home represented as "disgusting."
Oh, and for an extra layer of fun, the museum lets you challenge your friends and family the opportunity to smell and taste some of these notorious foods.
