via @NBAHistory This Tuesday, the Boston Celtics open the 2018/19 Season at home hosting the 76'ers at the Garden. I thought we'd take a look back at some NBA history on this very night in 1979. Point Guard Chris Ford hit the first-ever 3-point shot in a Game. The 6'5'' point guard entered the League with the Detroit Pistons, played seven seasons before joining Boston that year. After winning a championship with the C's, he ended his playing career in 1982 with 7,314 total points. Ford later served as a head coach with the team (1990–95) and spent two seasons (2001–2003) as head coach for Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.
Wouldn't you know it? Upon further review, even more History was made at that same game. See below:

He put up 14 PTS, 10 REBS & 5 ASTS in the @celtics victory, & would go on to win 1979-80 Rookie of the Year. #NBAVault pic.twitter.com/jBUS90UJyI
