via bizjournals.com Recently Boston Business Journals crunched the numbers to determine the costliest Zip Codes in Massachusetts. Not too many surprises in the top five. However, it was interesting to see what the median annual salary needed to cover living costs.
Topping the list is Nantucket. The island is the most exclusive neighborhood in Massachusetts, with a median home value of more than $1.6 million and a minimum salary threshold of $313,841. Wow! No wonder you don't see a lot of "Radio D.J.'s" listed on Nantucket's Census.
Chilmark (M.V.), Weston, Newton and Wellesley rounded out the rest of the top 5. Ironically, Nantucket doesn't even scratch the surface, nationally when it comes to the most expensive ZIP codes, ranking No. 99 overall. 15 of the highest are in California. The Bay Area city of Atherton was tops on the list with a median home value of $6.8 million, according to research compiled by Zillow Group. For more staggering numbers here's the full article
