Who knew there was another "Seer of Seers,Sage of Sages, Prognosticator of Prognosticators and Weather Prophet Extraordinaire"? It turns out after a trip to see Phil in Punxsutawney a few years back, the owner of a Buffalo, NY. brewery decided to start his own tradition. Meet "Buffalo Bert", the Western New York rival to the most famous Groundhog of 'em all.
Before you laugh it off, over 800 Groundhog enthusiasts showed up to find out if Bert saw his shadow a full week BEFORE ....Groundhog's Day. For the last six years, locals gather on the last Saturday of January, a full week before Punxsutawney Phil comes out of hibernation. So what was the verdict? Bert saw his shadow = six more weeks of Winter. I think I'll hold off and see what Phil has to say on Saturday.....
