Vermont Town Elects A Goat For Mayor

I'll be honest, at first read of the headline I thought Tom Brady was leaving Football to become the Mayor of this small town in Vermont. Low and behold, the people of Fair Haven have indeed elected a Goat as the first honorary Pet Mayor.

The three year-old Nubian goat named "Lincoln" beat out 15 other local animal candidates including dogs, cats and gerbils. Lincoln will hold "office" for a one year term and duties will include attending local events, like their annual Memorial Day parade. Fair Haven, a town of about 2,500 along the border with New York just west of Rutland, does not have a human mayor. They used the election as a means of raising funds for a local playground.
