For 16 seasons Forward/Guard John Havlicek compiled a laundry list of Hall of Fame-worthy stats and records. The former Celtic was an 8x NBA Champion and 13x NBA All Star . Four of his titles came in his first four years playing. He is only one of three players in League history with an 8-0 record in Finals history.
The list of accomplishments goes on and on. Havlicek was beloved by teammates, coaches and fans for decades after his playing career ended. He got the nickname "Hondo" from a 1950's western starring JOhn Wayne. He remains the Celtics' all-time leader in points (13th all-time in NBA history) and games played. He also became the first player to score 1,000 points in 16 consecutive seasons.
Below are just a few of the endless highlights he provided hoop fans. From his famous "steal" of the inbounding pass to seal Game 7 of the Eastern Conf. Finals against Philly to his final game ever in April of 1978 when he posted 29 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds.
