Eric Clapton Covers A Prince Classic At Royal Albert Hall

Eric Clapton has slowed down his touring schedule the last few years, playing just a hand full of shows. Last night the 74 year old Guitar Hero played the first of three concerts at the famed, Royal Albert Hall in London. The reviews were good for his 17-song set which included most of the heavy hitters from his 55+-year career.

One of the stand outs of the night came during the encore when Clapton payed tribute to another Music Legend that he once said got him through a particularly dark time. In"> this Facebook Post from April of 2016, he reflected on Prince shortly after his death:

"He was a true genius and a huge inspiration for me, in a very real way. In the the '80s, I was out on the road in a massive downward spiral with drink and drugs. I saw Purple Rainin a cinema in Canada, I had no idea who he was, it was like a bolt of lightning! In the middle of my depression, and the dreadful state of the music culture at that time, it gave me hope. He was like a light in the darkness."
