The Who Receive The First Star On London's Music Walk Of Fame

Yesterday in the borough of Camden, Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey were on hand for the unveiling of the first star on London's new Music Walk of Fame. As their trophy cases have swelled over the years, the iconic rock stars have now cemented, literally, their legacy for generations to come outside of The Jazz Cafe on Camden High Street. The area is located just north of the City and is well-known for its cultural and music heritage which includes Amy Winehouse, Britpop and Sixties psychedelia. At the the presentation, Daltrey said it's:

"...a great place to come for the best of the music that's out there at the moment. May it long reign and may this avenue of stars grow and grow because we have got the best music industry in the world."

The project has taken over a decade to come to fruition and was the idea of music promoter Lee Bennett who had noticed London had no Walk of Fame like the tourist destination in Hollywood, CA. His plans are for 20 paving stones to be laid out for prosperity. Future Music Walk of Fame inductees will be selected by an international panel of artists, executives and journalists. The next act will be Camden's own Madness. Watch more footage from the ceremony below.
