Via Boston.com. Tired of stale popcorn with something that tastes like motor oil poured on top when you go out to the movies? There’s a new luxury movie theatre in Boston’s Seaport District that wants to change that. The ShowPlace Icon Theatre announced in a press release Tuesday that it is teaming up with a group of local chefs to create a Chef Popcorn Menu of gourmet popcorn flavors.
Imagine eating Flour Bakery + Cafe owner and James Beard Award winner Joanne Chang’s sticky bun popcorn with roasted pecans while you watch The Rock battle on screen. How about ginger curry “fried chicken” popcorn, or pad thai popcorn with roasted peanuts. Each month they’ll feature a different flavor, and it ain’t cheap at $8.41 a basket, but you can wash it down with one of the 120 flavors of soda they have. Damn, I hope they have Fanta Grape Soda!
