Via Ultimate Classic Rock. Dire straits will be performing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony next week, but they'll be without their frontman, guitarist, and singer, Mark Knopfler.
Keyboardist Alan Clark explained the plans for the night on his website, "Myself, Guy Fletcher and John Illsley will attend the ceremony, where we'll be be performing an unplugged version of 'Telegraph Road' with me on harmonium, Guy on ukulele, John on banjo, and the vocal performed by the three of us as a three part harmony." They were all with Dire Straits when Mark Knopfler disbanded it in 1995, and went on to a solo career.
There's no explanation why Mark won't be attending his band's big night, but Dire Straits without Knopfler? That's like Led Zeppelin without Page and Plant...
