USPS To Honor John Lennon With A Forever Stamp

usps.com

Wednesday, The United States Postal Service announced plans to officially unveil a new stamp featuring  John Lennon at a dedication ceremony on September 7th at 11am in New York's Central Park, not far from the Dakota building where John used to live with Yoko and his son Sean.

The stamp sheet is pretty cool, it features 16 postage stamps designed to resemble a 45-rpm single sleeve. On the front is a photo taken by renowned photographer Bob Gruen for the cover of John's 1974 solo album Walls and Bridges. The flip side of the sheet has a photo taken by Peter Fordham, of Lennon sitting at his white piano, which was used to promote the 1971 album, Imagine.

The unveiling will be at the Namburg Bandshell in New York City's Central Park. The event is free and open to the public.
