Guitar Played By George Harrison At Last Cavern Club Gig To Be Auctioned

image guitar-auctions.co.uk

An Australian-made electric guitar that George Harrison used during the final show The Beatles played at Liverpool's famed Cavern Club, is going on the auction block September 12 in England.

And it was a loaner! The 1963 Maton Mastersound MS-500 was given to him to use by the owner of Barratts guitar shop while his Gretsch Country Gentleman guitar was repaired there. Although his Gretsch was returned the same day, George apparently liked this guitar and used it for quite a while.

The auction will take place September 12 by the Gardiner Houlgate auction house, and the winning bidder will also receive an original postcard with a photo of Harrison holding the Maton, and letters of authenticity.

It's expected to go for half a million or more! How much would you spend to get this piece of early Beatlemania? Click here for details Guitar Auctions at Gardiner Houlgate.
